Math Problems of the Week
If we can't use our skills to solve problems, then do we even HAVE skills?
Area
This week, and possibly next, we are going to look at the "area" of regular and irregular shapes. We are going to try to do our work on Zearn.org so that I can see your progress. I have emailed you and your parents your Zearn log-in information.

LANGUAGE ARTS
Reading should be a constant in your life, whether you're at school or not! Please continue to access the digital reading options on our Language Arts page. Those of you with the ability to do so are encouraged to access RAZ-Kids. You can access leveled materials and answer questions to keep building your fluency and comprehension.
THIS IS A GOOD IDEA!!
THIS IS A GOOD IDEA!!
With our writing, we always want to make sure that we are paying attention to our neatness, punctuation and structure! We will continue to work on writing a new weekly paragraph every week. I will also try to have a "supplemental activity" every week as well to help stretch your skills. You can submit pieces of writing through the Google Classroom assignment that is posted. Here you can attach your work as a Google Doc, or a picture or scan of your actual written work. Let's try and see how it works!
Weekly Paragraph Write
Topic: What do you do to make yourself feel better? We all have good days and bad days. When you are feeling stressed out, sad, dumpy or blue, what do you do to help yourself? Have you tried things that didn't work? Have you tried something that works all of the time? Does what you do depend on HOW bad you're feeling? What would you tell someone who said they don't know how to make themselves feel better?
Write using as many details as you can!
Supplementary Language Arts Activity
RECORD YOURSELF READING!
For this week, I would like you to log into your RAZ Kids account and record yourself reading for me. Some of you have already figured out how to do this, so I would like you to do it again. Hopefully, we can move towards doing this once a week.
SCIENCE
We're going to start looking at Light & Shadows for Science. I will post one or more investigation questions for you to explore for the week. I will also try to include some hands-on activities you can do at home.
Weekly Science Question
This is continued from the week before Spring Break as only 6 assignments were submitted. Moving on next week!
Shadows change direction and size depending on the placement of the light source. Your task this week after watching the videos is to attempt to do the "Shifting Shadows" experiment sheets that are in Google Classroom. If you don't have a printer, please try to answer the questions and do the graph as neatly as possible on paper.
If you have time, create your own sundial that the second video shows you. We live in the Northern Hemisphere, so your gnomon should be pointing North! Even if your sundial experiences some failure, what did you notice about it's shadow at different times of the day? Why was it different throughout the day if your sundial materials didn't change?
SOCIAL STUDIES
Early Alberta, David Thompson & The Fur Trade
We are going to try to explore some of our history through some reader's theater supplied by the Rocky Mountain House Historic Site. Time to act and get dramatic! If you don't have puppets, I challenge you to find a way to perform these scripts out loud for someone every week. Get your family members to take on roles!
I will post a new script each week along with some photos and videos of anything I can find that would help. I would also like to know what FACTS you learn each new week from the scripts, photos and/or videos.
